Alongside ice storms, thunderstorms, snow, and heavy rain, a tornado is now a possibility in parts of Ontario.
Environment and Climate Change Canada warned on X that extreme southwestern Ontario could experience intense wind gusts up to 100 km/h and a brief tornado late Wednesday afternoon and evening. Meanwhile, strong wind gusts of up to 90 km/h are forecast for parts of southwestern Ontario and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).
The Greater Toronto Area is under two weather alerts on Wednesday, expecting up to 50 mm of rain and a brief period of freezing rain in the afternoon.
Further north, freezing rain and rainfall warnings are in effect, predicting 20 to 40 mm of rain, with some areas possibly exceeding 50 mm.
In eastern Ontario, including the Ottawa area, snowfall of up to five cm is expected before transitioning to freezing rain, according to Environment Canada.
