Wage Increase Takes Effect Tomorrow for Lowest-Paid Workers
Starting tomorrow, the province’s lowest-paid workers will see a wage boost as the minimum wage rises by 40 cents to $16.00 per hour. This change was announced earlier this year as part of the province’s effort to support workers.
Meanwhile, the federal minimum wage will also increase by 2.4%, bringing it to $17.75 per hour.
The NDP has been advocating for a further increase, pushing for a $20 per hour minimum wage. Currently, Nunavut holds the highest minimum wage in Canada at $19 per hour.
