Lean Ground Beef Recalled in Ontario Due to E. Coli Contamination
An active recall has been issued for lean ground beef sold in Canada due to E. coli contamination, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
The affected product is Aladdin Foods Lean Ground Beef, sold exclusively at Aladdin’s Foods grocery store and butchery in London, Ontario. Only this location is impacted at this time. The recalled meat was packaged on February 24, 2025, with a best-before date of February 28, 2025, but may still be stored in consumers’ freezers.
The recall was initiated following test results confirming the presence of E. coli bacteria. While no illnesses have been reported and the recall currently affects only one product, the CFIA warns that additional recalls may follow if further contamination is identified.
Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised not to consume it. If you experience symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, or low-grade fever after eating ground beef, seek medical attention promptly.
