Thieves Steal 100,000 Eggs Worth $40,000 from Trailer as Police Scramble for Clues
Authorities in Pennsylvania are working to solve a large-scale theft after 100,000 organic eggs, valued at over $40,000, were stolen from a distribution trailer over the weekend.
The incident occurred in Greencastle, Pennsylvania—about 65 miles southwest of Harrisburg—on Saturday around 8:40 p.m. The eggs were taken from a parked trailer outside Pete & Gerry’s Organics.
Pennsylvania State Police Chambersburg responded to the scene and confirmed the massive theft. However, officials have not yet disclosed how the crime went unnoticed or whether they have any leads.
Pete & Gerry’s Organics, a brand that transitioned to organic farming in 1997, collaborates with over 200 independent family farms across New England, the Mid-Atlantic, and the Midwest. The company, recognized as a 2022 Best For The World B Corp, emphasizes ethical farming practices and community impact.
“These farms are typically run by a single family and small enough for each partner farmer to manage, delivering hands-on care to our hens, while still leading rich and fulfilling lives,” the company stated.
The investigation remains active, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact Pennsylvania State Police Chambersburg.
