Over 130,000 Ovens Recalled in Canada Over Fire Risk
LG Recalls Over 130,000 Ovens in Canada Due to Fire Hazard
LG Electronics Canada has issued a recall for more than 130,000 ovens, warning that the stove knobs can be accidentally turned on by humans or pets, creating a fire risk.
Announced on Wednesday, the recall affects LG’s Slide-In and Freestanding Electric Range ovens sold between May 2016 and June 2024. According to LG Electronics Canada, a total of 137,257 units in the country are impacted.
“The front-mounted knobs on the recalled ranges can be activated by accidental contact, posing a fire hazard,” stated the Government of Canada recall site.
Since February 12, 2025, there have been eight reported incidents in Canada, including two minor injuries—a cut and a burn.
The recall applies to LG electric ranges with five surface elements and front-mounted knobs. These models, available in black and stainless steel, measure 30 inches (76.2 cm) wide. The model number can be found inside the oven door or storage drawer.
Consumers with an affected appliance should contact LG Electronics Canada with the recall identification number RA-76981 to receive a free warning label and placement instructions. LG confirms that customers may continue using their ovens while awaiting the warning label.
