Google Canada Rejects Allegations of Power Abuse, Accuses Competition Bureau of Rights Violations
Google has denied allegations of abusing its market power in response to the Competition Bureau’s lawsuit over the company’s advertising practices in Canada.
In court documents filed on Friday, Google and its Canadian subsidiary argued that the company does not hold a “substantial degree of market power.”
The Competition Bureau is suing Google for alleged anticompetitive behavior in its online advertising business, seeking the sale of two of its services and a financial penalty.
The bureau claims that Google has misused its dominant position in the digital advertising market, stifling competition, hindering innovation, inflating ad costs, and reducing revenue for publishers.
In its response, Google denies any illegal or improper conduct and accuses the bureau of violating its constitutional rights.
