Hershey Canada to Discontinue Production of Cherry Blossom Candy
Hershey Canada has confirmed that it will no longer produce its iconic Cherry Blossom candy.
The company did not disclose a reason for ceasing production of the treat, which features a maraschino cherry and cherry syrup encased in a chocolate shell.
Originally crafted in the 1890s by the Canadian subsidiary of the Lowney Company, the candy changed hands through multiple acquisitions before becoming part of Hershey Canada’s portfolio in the late 1980s.
For decades, the individually-wrapped sweets were a familiar sight in Canadian Halloween treat bags.
News of the candy’s impending disappearance sparked mixed reactions online. While some cheered the end of its divisive flavor, others expressed nostalgia, longing for one last taste of the classic treat.
