Egg Recall Announced for Six Canadian Brands

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for specific batches of eggs from six brands due to potential salmonella contamination.

The recall impacts eggs under the Golden Valley, Compliments, Foremost, IGA, No Name, and Western Family brands. The affected products vary in size and packaging, but only specific lot numbers are included in the recall. Consumers can find the detailed list of affected lot codes on the CFIA website.

The CFIA warns that food contaminated with salmonella may appear normal and have no unusual odor, yet it can still cause illness. Those most at risk include young children, pregnant individuals, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms of salmonella infection include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.

Consumers are urged to check the lot numbers of any eggs they have from the listed brands. Affected eggs should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

If you suspect you’ve become ill after consuming contaminated eggs, the CFIA advises contacting your health-care provider immediately.
