Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB): What to Know About Payments Starting January 10, 2025

Just one week after the year’s first GST credit payments were issued, eligible Canadians will receive additional financial support through the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit (ACWB).

The ACWB is an advance payment of up to 50% of the Canada Workers Benefit (CWB), distributed in three installments throughout the year. The first payment for 2025 is scheduled for Friday, January 10.

Eligibility Criteria for the ACWB

To qualify for the ACWB, you must:

  • Be over 19 years old as of December 31, or live with a spouse, common-law partner, or child.
  • Be a resident of Canada throughout the year.
  • Be working but earning below the net income threshold set for your province or territory.

ACWB Payment Amounts

The maximum CWB amounts for 2025 are:

  • $1,518 for single individuals.
  • $2,616 for families.
  • $784 for the disability supplement (for individuals and families, based on adjusted net income).

The maximum CWB benefits may vary for residents of Quebec, Nunavut, and Alberta. Eligible individuals will receive up to 50% of their total CWB amount in advance payments.

Important Details

  • To be eligible for advance payments, you must reside in Canada on the first day of the payment quarter.
  • You can use the federal government’s Child and Family Benefits Calculator to estimate your ACWB payment amount.

No Application Required

You do not need to apply for the ACWB separately. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) automatically determines eligibility based on your income tax and benefit return.
