Taylor Brand Oysters Recalled in Three Provinces Due to Potential Norovirus Contamination”

Fanny Bay, Sunseeker, and Cloudy Bay Oysters Recalled in Ontario, B.C., and Alberta

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall of certain oysters due to potential norovirus contamination. The affected products, sold under the Taylor Shellfish Canada brand, include Fanny Bay, Sunseeker, and Cloudy Bay oysters distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.

Most of the recalled oysters were harvested and processed in early December, though some may date back as far as November 27.

Consumers who have purchased these oysters are advised to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase. Anyone experiencing symptoms after consuming the oysters should seek medical attention.

Symptoms of norovirus infection can appear within 12 hours of exposure and commonly include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach cramps. While most individuals recover within a few days, severe cases may require hospitalization and intravenous treatment.
