Ontario residents should prepare for a mix of snow, freezing rain, and heavy rainfall this weekend, with hazardous travel conditions likely in some regions.
In northern Ontario, communities west of Lake Nipigon, including Thunder Bay and Nipigon, are expected to receive 5 to 10 cm of snow starting Saturday.
Freezing rain is forecasted for eastern and northeastern Ontario, impacting areas such as Sudbury, North Bay, and Timmins, with conditions expected to linger through Sunday.
Southern Ontario faces a different challenge, as Environment Canada warns of potential rainfall in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including Toronto, Peel, York, and Durham regions. Rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 mm could also impact eastern Ontario, covering cities like Kingston, Ottawa, and Pembroke.
While no heavy snowfall is currently forecasted for Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Hamilton, or Durham Region, residents are advised to stay updated on evolving weather alerts.
Freezing rain risks remain possible in parts of southern Ontario, with additional updates expected as the weekend progresses.
