Weather Alert Issued for Thunder Bay Region

THUNDER BAY — Monday morning could bring potentially damaging winds to the Thunder Bay area.

Environment Canada issued a Special Weather Statement on Sunday afternoon, warning that wind speeds could reach up to 80 km/h in the morning hours.

Strong northwesterly gusts are anticipated to develop around dawn, affecting the city as well as regions near western Lake Superior and Lake Nipigon. The winds may persist for several hours before gradually easing towards midday.

These strong winds could pose risks, with the potential to scatter loose objects, break tree branches, and cause power outages.
