Third Fatality Linked to Listeria Outbreak in Plant-Based Beverages

A third person has died due to a listeria outbreak linked to plant-based drinks sold under the Silk and Great Value brands, as reported by Health Canada.

The agency confirms 20 cases of listeriosis across Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and Alberta. The regional distribution includes 13 cases in Ontario, five in Quebec, one in Nova Scotia, and one in Alberta. Of these cases, 15 have required hospitalization. The affected individuals range in age from 7 to 89, with over 70 percent of the cases involving people aged 50 or older.
