Former YouTube CEO and veteran Google executive Susan Wojcicki has passed away at the age of 56.
Susan Wojcicki, the former CEO of YouTube and a longtime Google executive, has passed away at the age of 56, her husband confirmed.
In a heartfelt social media post late Friday, Dennis Troper shared, ‘My beloved wife of 26 years and the mother of our five children passed away today after a two-year battle with non-small cell lung cancer. Susan was not just my best friend and life partner but also a brilliant mind, a loving mother, and a dear friend to many.’
No further details about her passing were provided.
Wojcicki, who was instrumental in Google’s early development, stepped down as YouTube’s CEO in 2023 after nine years at the helm of the platform that revolutionized entertainment, culture, and politics.
In 1998, shortly after Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin turned their search engine into a business, Wojcicki rented out the garage of her Menlo Park, California, home to them for $1,700 a month.
The couple also suffered the loss of their 19-year-old son, Marco Troper, who passed away in February while attending UC Berkeley as a freshman.
