Shock Hazard: Health Canada Recalls Nearly 100,000 USB Chargers Sold on Amazon
Health Canada Issues Recall for Nearly 100,000 USB Chargers Sold on Amazon Canada.
Health Canada has issued a consumer product advisory recall for approximately 100,000 USB chargers sold through Amazon Canada. The recall stems from concerns over an “unreasonable risk” of electric shock.
The recalled product, identified as the ‘Power-7 USB Wall Charger’ (Model US2018), includes the 2.1A/5V dual port USB cube power adapter in white. These chargers were typically sold in packs of two and five and feature identification numbers ‘B083LBZX1F’ and ‘B082XPSDFL,’ according to Daily Hive.
Between August 2020 and March 2024, a total of 97,113 Power-7 chargers were sold. Following the recall, all affected chargers have been removed from Amazon Canada’s listings, and fortunately, no injuries have been reported thus far. However, instructions for refunds have not yet been released.
This serves as a timely reminder that not all products available on Amazon meet safety standards, highlighting the importance of purchasing accessories from trusted and reputable brands.
