Police Apprehend Two Suspects Following Theft of $5M Worth of Watches from Downtown Toronto Boutique

Two individuals have been apprehended by authorities following an armed robbery last autumn in downtown Toronto, where watches valued at $5 million were allegedly stolen.

According to police reports, two men disguised themselves and approached a store located in the vicinity of Spadina Avenue and Adelaide Street on October 30, 2023. At approximately 4:30 p.m., they rang the doorbell under the guise of a delivery.

Upon the door’s opening, the suspects forcefully entered the premises. Allegedly, one of the assailants brandished a firearm, coercing the store employees to the ground and securing their hands with duct tape.

Investigators assert that the culprits seized numerous timepieces estimated at $5 million before making their escape.

Subsequent to the theft, law enforcement identified an additional individual connected to the incident, leading to his apprehension on December 21, 2023. During this operation, a quantity of stolen watches was reportedly recovered.

Danial Jamil, 34, of Toronto, faces charges including trafficking in property obtained by crime, possession of proceeds of crime, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Later, members of Toronto’s Hold Up Squad identified one of the two suspects sought in connection with the initial robbery. On May 9, 2024, 29-year-old Christian Collins of Clarington was taken into custody. Authorities indicate that several stolen watches and other pertinent items related to the investigation were seized during this operation.

Collins now confronts six charges, among them robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, and breaching a conditional sentence order.

Efforts persist in the search for the remaining suspect linked to the robbery.
