Dental Care Program Opens Claim Submission for One Million Seniors

Minister of Citizens’ Services Terry Beech reports that 1,200 seniors have already utilized the services of a dentist and had their claims swiftly processed through the federal government’s recent dental care initiative. Additionally, he announces that as of today, 1 million seniors have received their benefits card, rendering them eligible to submit claims through the program. The inaugural patient was attended to at 7 a.m. in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The initiative arose from a collaborative political agreement between the Liberals and the New Democrats.

Upon its complete implementation, the program aims to extend accessibility to individuals lacking private insurance and with a household income below $90,000.

Seniors began enrollment late last year, with eligibility expanding to children under 18 and individuals receiving the disabilities tax credit next month.

According to Health Canada, 6,500 oral health professionals, encompassing dentists, hygienists, and denturists, have enlisted to offer services to participants enrolled in the federal dental scheme.
