B.C. Serial Killer Robert Pickton Brutally Attacked in Prison.

Notorious B.C. Serial Killer Robert Pickton on Life Support After Brutal Prison Attack

Notorious B.C. serial killer Robert (Willie) Pickton was placed on life support Monday following a brutal attack by another inmate at Quebec’s maximum-security Port-Cartier Institution.

Pickton was airlifted to a hospital after the assault, which occurred just before 2 p.m. local time on Sunday, May 19, according to sources.

One source reported that the attacker had previously assaulted other inmates before being moved to segregation. After being released back into the same unit as Pickton, the prisoner allegedly attacked him, spearing him in the head with a broken broom-like handle, another source said.

The Correctional Service Canada confirmed to Postmedia late Monday that Pickton was the victim of a “major assault” but did not comment on his medical condition. In an earlier news release, the CSC stated, “the Sûreté du Québec is presently investigating the incident. The assailant has been identified and the appropriate actions have been taken.”

No one at the Port-Cartier Institution would comment Monday.

When contacted by phone on Monday and asked if his client had been attacked in prison and was now hospitalized with a serious brain injury, Pickton’s lawyer Ian Runkle responded, “I don’t have anything I can say at this point. That may change, but nothing I can pass along at this point.”

Sources reported that Pickton had been taken to the Hospital of the Child Jesus in Quebec City. Postmedia contacted the hospital to inquire about Pickton’s condition.
