Minor tremor rattles Quebec and Ontario.

On Thursday morning, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake struck Quebec near the Ontario border. The epicenter was located in Huntington, Que., within the Montérégie region, southwest of Montreal. The tremor, felt around 7:30 a.m., extended to surrounding areas, including Cornwall, Ont., and even Vermont in the United States.

Residents of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Que., took to a local Facebook group to discuss the earthquake, with many mistaking the tremor for an explosion. Some reported hearing a booming sound preceding the shaking.

“It sounded like a bomb had just dropped,” one comment reads.

Fortunately, there were no reports of damage.
