Pistachios valued at $70,000 pilfered in second recent truck theft with a ‘nutty’ connection in Waterloo Region
Authorities are actively searching for culprits involved in the theft of a substantial quantity of pistachios near Kitchener. Investigators are categorizing this incident as the second recent “nut-related vehicle theft” in the region. According to Waterloo Regional Police, the suspects allegedly absconded with a transport truck and trailer from a business yard in the town of Baden, located west of Kitchener, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Law enforcement reports indicate that the trailer contained approximately $70,000 worth of pistachios. This occurrence comes in the wake of a comparable theft in November, where perpetrators stole a truck and trailer loaded with walnuts, as stated by the police.
The investigation into these incidents is still in progress, and individuals possessing information related to the matter are strongly encouraged to reach out to the police.
