Windsor Unemployment Explored by Local Professionals and Business Leaders
In November, Windsor witnessed a 0.5% increase in its unemployment rate, as reported by the Statistics Canada labor force survey. This surge has positioned the Rose City with the highest unemployment percentage nationwide.
According to the labor force survey, Windsor leads in Canada with an unemployment rate of 7.6 percent, surpassing both St. Catharine’s-Niagara and Oshawa, which stand at 7.3 percent.
June Muir, the CEO of the UHC Hub of Opportunities, highlights two potential factors that may have played a role in the recent half-percent uptick in Windsor’s unemployment rate.
“I don’t know if those numbers count and then of course there’s a lot of spin off jobs that are affected by that,” she added, “Our job developer Andrea said that most employers are only looking for part-time workers,”
