Kangaroo Breaks Free from Ontario Zoo During Overnight Visit.

The quest to locate a kangaroo that broke free from an Ontario zoo during the unloading process from a transport truck is set to recommence on Saturday morning, as confirmed by zoo staff and volunteers. This marsupial, one of a pair en route to a zoo in Quebec, eluded handlers from the Oshawa Zoo and Fun Farm on Thursday night.

“It jumped over their heads,” Cameron Preyde, an employee with the zoo.

Preyde clarified that the intention was for the animal to be accommodated at the facility for just one night.

The creature attracted significant public notice when Team Chelsea, a community-run pet group, posted a video capturing it hopping along Winchester Road, approximately three kilometers south of the zoo, shortly after 7:45 a.m. on Friday morning.

“This is not our kangaroo,” he said. “It was just supposed to be a stopover, like a hotel room, on its way to Quebec.”

At approximately 3 p.m., the kangaroo was located at an alternate spot on Winchester Road. By then, volunteers reported receiving approximately 30 sightings of the animal.
