St. Ignatius shuts down following a second threat.
Following the receipt of a second threat within two days, another high school under the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board has been shut down. St. Ignatius High School announced its closure in response to a threat received on Tuesday, as stated by the board shortly before 4:30 p.m.
The school board is in close collaboration with the Thunder Bay Police Service regarding the situation.
The board received notification of the threat late on Tuesday afternoon, leading to the cancellation of all after-school activities at St. Ignatius.
Stating that the school will remain closed “until further notice,” the board has not confirmed whether classes will resume on Wednesday.
This follows the closure of St. Patrick High School on Tuesday due to a threat received the previous day. St. Patrick was slated to reopen on Wednesday following a walkthrough of the building by police and board staff.
