Pricing update from PUB reflects decreases in gas, diesel, and home-heating fuel costs.
Early Thursday, the cost of all types of fuel saw reductions throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
Gasoline, subject to the Public Utilities Board’s weekly price adjustments, saw a decrease of 2.7 cents per liter, capping the maximum allowable retail price at $1.696 per liter on the Avalon Peninsula. However, some retailers opt to charge less to stay competitive.
Across the remainder of Newfoundland, regional price ceilings range between $1.69 and $1.87, while in Labrador, prices fluctuate from $1.69 to $2.25 per liter.
Diesel fuel witnessed a province-wide decrease of 3.4 cents per liter, leading to price ranges of $2.13 to $2.25 per liter in Newfoundland and $1.95 to $2.39 per liter in Labrador.
For furnace oil, the reduction was 2.14 cents per liter, resulting in price brackets of $1.34 to $1.52 per liter across Newfoundland.
Stove oil experienced the most substantial reduction among all fuels, with a decrease of 4.3 cents per liter across Newfoundland, establishing price ranges between $1.42 and $1.61 per liter, contingent on one’s location within the island. Additionally, Stove oil prices fell by 2.41 cents per liter in Labrador West and Churchill Falls, leading to prices of $1.40 to $1.85 per liter in Labrador.
Propane witnessed the smallest reduction, with a decrease of 0.9 cents per liter. Propane prices now span from 97 cents to $1.10 per liter in Newfoundland and from 83 cents to $1.28 per liter in Labrador.
