A 10-year-old advocates for Apple to update the ‘nerd face’ emoji.

In a heartfelt appeal, a 10-year-old boy from Oxfordshire, UK, is urging tech giant Apple to reconsider its ‘nerd face’ emoji. Teddy contends that the current representation may convey a misleading impression of individuals who wear glasses.

As someone who wears glasses himself, Teddy proposes a revamped emoji featuring glasses without the prominent toothy grin. He specifically voices his dissatisfaction with the current nerd emoji’s prominent front teeth.

“We want to change this. Apple are making it absolutely horrible for people wearing glasses,” He said, “It’s making me feel sad and upset, and if I find it offensive there’ll be thousands of people around the world that find it offensive too.”

Teddy dubs his rendition of the emoji the ‘Genius emoji’ and is optimistic that Apple will adopt his creation to replace the current nerd icon he illustrated.

“It’s got thin lenses and thin frames, and then it’s got a little smiley face instead of the horrible rabbit teeth,” he said, “I like wearing glasses because they make me see a lot better, and they look good and stylish,” he added.
