IKEA to Open Pickup Location in Thunder Bay.

While there isn’t an IKEA store in Northwestern Ontario, the global home furnishings retailer, owned by the Swedish company, is intensifying its endeavors to engage customers from this region.

On Wednesday, IKEA Canada revealed its plans to establish a pickup location in Thunder Bay, marking its first such facility in Ontario north of Barrie.

This initiative underscores IKEA’s dedication to ensuring that shopping with the company becomes more accessible and cost-effective for individuals who lack convenient access to an IKEA store.

The nearest Canadian store to Thunder Bay is situated in Winnipeg, a destination frequently frequented by numerous local residents.

The pick-up location, located in the 200 block of Cumberland Street North, will commence operations on October 28.

Although the company has confirmed that the service will be available “at an affordable rate,” specific details were not included in the announcement.

IKEA operates 16 physical stores across Canada in addition to a network of planning and ordering centers and pickup locations.
