13 new additional Zellers locations is set to welcome Ontario.

The iconic Canadian retail chain, Zellers, is gearing up for an extensive expansion, with plans to establish 78 pop-up outlets within Hudson’s Bay stores across the nation. This exciting development includes the recent unveiling of more than a dozen new locations in Ontario.

Zellers made a triumphant return in 2023, reemerging in the form of pop-up stores to an enthusiastic reception from customers. Since then, the brand has been rapidly proliferating, finding a home within Hudson’s Bay’s extensive network of department stores throughout Canada.

In a significant announcement made on Wednesday, The Bay disclosed its intent to further magnify the presence of the Zellers brand by introducing it to all remaining Hudson’s Bay locations in Canada. This initiative will involve the creation of a fresh batch of Zellers stores, supplementing the existing 24 store-in-store setups and 22 pop-up locations that were launched earlier this year.

The size of the pop-up stores will differ from one location to another, spanning a range from 1,000 square feet to as much as 2,800 square feet.

While Zellers hasn’t reopened any standalone brick-and-mortar stores at this point, representatives from Hudson’s Bay have emphasized that these pop-up outlets are being used strategically as market tests to evaluate potential future Zellers store locations.

“Pop-ups are a key ingredient in our expansion strategy, allowing us to explore and test in new markets and fine-tune our offering before establishing larger format store locations. Our customers are in the driver’s seat – they will tell us how and where to grow,” says Sophia Hwang-Judiesch, President of Hudson’s Bay.

The Bramalea City Centre in Brampton will unveil its previously announced Zellers pop-up location on September 27th.
