Disney+ to Unveil More Affordable Subscription Option in Canada
Disney+ is set to unveil a more affordable pricing option for its Canadian subscribers, albeit with the inclusion of advertisements. Today, the streaming platform revealed its plans to launch an ad-supported subscription plan in Canada, starting from November 1st.
Following a prosperous introduction of the ad-supported tier in the United States, as highlighted by the entertainment conglomerate, a similar step is being taken.
The fresh offering, known as the “Standard with Ads” subscription, comes at a monthly fee of $7.99 and encompasses features such as up to full HD 1080p video quality and the capability for two simultaneous streams. Regrettably, downloading functionality will not be accessible.
Disney+ has communicated that its advertisement-free Standard plan is priced at $11.99 per month ($119.99 annually).
Additionally, Disney+ is set to launch a Premium plan, available at a monthly rate of $14.99 ($149.99 annually).
However, there is another noteworthy alteration in pricing and subscription options that subscribers should take note of.
In an official statement, Disney+ clarifies that “current subscribers will continue under their present subscription, which will be rebranded as Disney+ Premium, and they will have the choice to transition to either the Standard plan or the Standard Plan with ads.”
