Elon Musk Enforces Temporary Daily Limit on Twitter Engagement

Elon Musk Implements Temporary Daily Twitter Reading Restriction

Elon Musk, the 52-year-old co-founder of Tesla, is once again making waves in the world of Twitter. Known for his eccentric behavior and bold statements, Musk recently took to the social media platform to announce the implementation of “temporary limits” on Twitter accounts. These limits specifically target the number of tweets a user can read while using the platform.

verified accounts will now have the ability to access an impressive 6,000 posts per day. On the other hand, unverified accounts will be restricted to viewing up to 600 posts daily. However, the restrictions become even more stringent for newly created unverified accounts, as their daily post access will be limited to a mere 300.

Musk explained that this decision is a proactive measure to tackle the escalating issue of data scraping, which has reached alarming levels. By imposing these temporary limits, he aims to address the problem head-on and mitigate its impact.

As one of the most influential figures in the tech industry, Musk’s actions on social media often attract significant attention. While this move may disrupt the usual Twitter experience for some users, it reflects Musk’s ongoing efforts to address challenges and maintain a healthy online environment.

In a sudden change of course, mere hours later, the multi-billionaire made an adjustment to the numbers, tweeting, “Rate limits will soon be increased to 8,000 for verified accounts, 800 for unverified accounts, and 400 for new unverified accounts.”

Users on Twitter who exceeded Elon Musk’s recently implemented tweet limits were met with an exasperating pop-up message informing them of a “rate limit exceeded” situation, urging them to wait before attempting further. Moreover, a number of users encountered an error message stating “cannot retrieve tweets.”

According to Musk’s announcement, these rate limit errors are anticipated to persist until the next day. In a playful retort, Musk took to Twitter once again, jesting in a follow-up tweet that he himself was “rate limited due to reading all the posts about rate limits,” humorously poking fun at his critics.

Such is the nature of progress.
